Karate classes
At Machida Karate Gorham (MKG), everyone from first-time kids to seasoned adults trains the same modern, complete style of karate, at a level that fits them. Find your program below and claim one week free to try it out. Contact us if you have any questions.
Little Dragon Program
Ages 4 to 6
Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m. in Robie Gym
Karate should feel like play at this age, so that's how we teach it. Little Dragons build coordination, rhythm, and body awareness through games. Along the way, they pick up self-defense and Machida Karate basics, pad work, and a little meditation. Expect a lot of giggles, a lot of energy, and a kid who walks out a little more confident than they walked in.
Youth Samurai Program
Ages 7 to 11
Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. in Robie Gym
This is where confidence gets built. Youth Samurai train in Machida Karate fundamentals, build coordination and body awareness, and practice self-defense with partners, including what to do if someone gives them a hard time. Pad work, meditation, and plenty of games keep it fun while they learn real skills.
Teen Tigers Program
Ages 12 to 15
Contact us for scheduling
Teens get the essentials of karate: footwork, strikes, kicks, blocks, grappling fundamentals, and self-defense for situations they might actually face. It's a great place to build strength, focus, and confidence, and to be part of a team. And of course, we still find ways to make it fun. At 16, students move up to the adult program.
Adult Programs
Ages 16+
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. in Robie Gym
Here you'll learn the core of Machida Karate, including footwork, strikes, kicks, blocks, grappling basics, and self-defense for common situations. Most people notice the change quickly: better fitness, more confidence, and more motivation to keep showing up. Come as you are, and we'll take it from there. We also have private and advanced classes available.
